Jaques Delors

I was a great honour to meet one of my most eminent predecessors as European Commission President - Jacques Delors - on this historic day that marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Maastricht Treaty (this is the one where there European Union was founded). We discussed how the European Union would be able to resolve the current sovereign debt crisis. Both of us agreed that only through deeper integration, the Union will be able to get out of this situation.
